Quinn Brodsky
Tutor and coach, specializing in physics, math, and executive functioning
Quinn Brodsky, an MIT-educated expert in physics and math, tutors and inspires students to build intuition, excel in research, and develop the skills they need to gain confidence for top-tier university admissions.
Having gone through the wringer of MIT, Quinn understands the pressures of high-achieving students and the harsh reality of life they face in environments where they’re no longer the smartest in the room. She had to learn—quickly—how to be an effective student.
She learned not just how to survive, but how to excel. Now, she helps her students do the same. With a focus on developing cognitive awareness, her students learn to connect deeply with their thought processes, developing curiosity, grit, and flexibility along the way.
If you’re a high school student managing a heavy load of coursework and targeting prestigious universities, Quinn can help you build the strong foundation and intuitive understanding you need.
Quinn’s biography
Teaching Philosophy
Most students hope to leave college with a rock-solid intuition for math and physics principles. Quinn’s students already have that intuition when they arrive at college, armed with a toolkit of skills and good habits they can confidently employ. Understanding the connections between physics, mathematics, and onesself builds lifelong benefits.
Personal Approach
When you’re juggling four hours of homework a night, it’s nearly impossible to deepen your understanding of complex theories and their real-world applications—yet that’s precisely what the most selective programs look for.
The magic of working with Quinn is that instead of trying to build that intuition “when there’s time,” she puts it front and center, framing it not only as the primary goal but also as the most effective way to reduce busy students’ mental load. And it works. Her students really come to understand the meaning behind the material and how they learn best, so managing their work gets a lot faster and easier.
Areas of Expertise
Executive Functioning, Independent Study, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C (Mechanics and E&M), AP Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Probability, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, and a host of both more- and less-advanced topics.
Academic Achievements
As an MIT graduate with degrees in physics and math, Quinn brings practical experience to her students. Her experience as a published researcher, award-winning educator (Joel Matthew Orloff Awards, MIT Math Award), and contributor to The Tech at MIT helps ensure that her students receive top-tier guidance. Nowadays, she collaborates with the well-known YouTube channel 3blue1brown. Check out her videos below!
Your pathway to success with Quinn
Develop deep understanding
Quinn goes far beyond memorization, helping you grasp the core concepts behind physics and mathematics. This strong foundation is crucial for success in future coursework.
Become an independent learner
Quinn helps her students explore their own interests through independent research, further solidifying their understanding and showcasing their initiative to top universities.
Gain confidence and reduce stress
An intuitive understanding of math, physics, or your own cognition will allow you to approach challenges with confidence, reducing your homework time, and freeing up time for other activities.
Current Projects
Quinn’s passion for making math and physics accessible to everyone led to her current collaboration with 3blue1brown, an extremely well-respected STEM YouTube channel, where she helps create remarkable educational videos. Check out her recent series exploring the fascinating world of optics.
What Students and Parents Say About Quinn
“Not only did my daughter’s confidence in math improve significantly, but she also became much more proactive and clear in identifying the areas she needed help with. In the beginning, she was unsure of what she didn’t understand, but over time, she gained mastery of the concepts and became more focused during her sessions. I’m so grateful for the support Quinn provided in helping her develop both her math skills and self-confidence.”
Paige and Jen N.
“Thank you – this is wonderfully clear and I love how in 45 short minutes, you seem to have exactly pinpointed both Aviva’s issue with the class and specific strategies she can implement immediately. And, it clearly seems like you two clicked. As a former tutor myself, I am truly impressed.”
Dewey W.
Parent: “Thank you, you’ve been amazing. You’ve really had a huge impact on him. Everything that’s changed has been because of him growing and responding to you. We really appreciate it – it means a lot to us.” Student: “Working with you last year made a huge difference. Now, it’s so much easier for me to sit down and know exactly what I need to study and how to study it. Thank you.”
Kiyan, Lori, and Kaveh V.
“Thanks for all the support for Shiven, you have been a wonderful mentor and guide for him and we are so blessed that Shiven had a chance to learn with you in his academic journey (…) It’s great to have open conversations with you, Quinn, because you’re truly our eyes and ears. The extra time you spend with Shiven gives us valuable insights into his progress, something we lacked before. In the past, we never knew if he was getting value from his sessions, but with you, we have full confidence that he’s receiving the support he needs. We really appreciate your transparency and dedication.”
