How do I schedule that first session?

Usually it gets scheduled in your initial chat with Wes. If not, feel free to log in below to schedule it by claiming a 90-minute “Open Session,” or call or email Wes to schedule. Whichever is easiest for you.

Who attends this intake session?

In addition to the student, one or both parents should please also attend if the student has not yet graduated from high school.

Location

Please check your email for video conference instructions. In most cases, you’ll be meeting with Wes in his Zoom room.

Before each face-to-face video conference session, we’d like you to please send your tutor multi-page, color PDFs containing your homework.

Fees and guarantee

The 85-minute Intake session is to be paid in advance. This invoice is payable via your choice of credit card or bank transfer. Please expect that invoice in your inbox.

It’s important to all of us that all students and families feel good about our work together. So, during or following any session in which you don’t feel we’re doing great work towards your goals (including the very first), please let us know within three days of that appointment and we will issue a refund straight away.

Scheduling

Schedule your sessions by logging in above, and selecting your preferred date(s) and time(s) on the Calendar view from among the purple “Open” session slots.

After scheduling any session, you’ll get a confirmation email with location details and instructions.

To make, change, or cancel any appointments, just come back to this page, and log in (above).  

Can’t find a time that works? Just call or email, and we’ll do everything we can.

Cancellations

If you find you must cancel an appointment, no problem: just make the change by logging in above, clicking the appointment within the calendar, and clicking Cancel.

  • Cancellations made on less than 24 hours’ notice incur the full session fee.
  • Cancellations made on 24 to 72 hours’ notice incur half the session fee.

(In case of sudden illness, give us at least three hours’ notice, and we’ll exempt you.)

Before each session, email your scanned homework to your tutor.

Homework

Your tutor will assign you homework near the end of your session. If you need a reminder, find a link to the recording of your session in your email inbox.

Guarantee

Our expectation of excellence goes both ways. So, if you don’t feel we’re doing great work towards your goals, get in touch within 72 hours of your last session. It won’t be charged, or will be refunded in full, as appropriate.

Fees

Our intake session

After our consultation call together, our next step is usually an Intake session.  The intake session is 85 minutes long, and is generally run by Wes himself. The cost of an intake session varies; the Fall 2021 intake fee is $600.

Please expect an emailed invoice for the full amount. Please pay this invoice online (via credit card) at least 24 hours before the meeting. We will discuss ongoing work, including cost, during our first meeting. 

Need-based partial scholarships are often available. Please inquire.

Standard (ongoing) sessions

Moving forward, we will invoice you by email approximately monthly.  Our current hourly rates are:

  • Wes $400/hr ($600 per 85-minute session)
  • Others $250/hr ($375 per 85-minute session)   
Off-hours sessions

If you ever need a session at a time not listed on the schedule as available, please contact your tutor. If we can rearrange our schedule to accommodate you, we will. Such sessions incur an additional fee; we typically bill at time-and-a-half for such sessions.
