Rohan Paranjpe
Tutor at Wes Carroll Tutoring & Coaching
Rohan Paranjpe is a Stanford-trained engineer and physicist who helps students master challenging STEM subjects through deep understanding, creativity, and curiosity.
With a background that bridges electrical engineering, physics, and computer science, Rohan brings a rare blend of analytical rigor and creative exploration to every session. His approach is rooted in helping students truly understand what they’re learning, then extending that understanding through novel problems, mathematical puzzles, and creative challenges that make test preparation not just manageable, but rewarding.
Rohan’s biography
Teaching Philosophy
Rohan believes learning is a transformational process. His goal isn’t to simply transmit information, but to create an environment that encourages genuine understanding. By developing new, thought-provoking problems, he helps students test and stretch their imaginations while building confidence. For Rohan, success means seeing a student approach exams with both mastery and enjoyment.
Personal Approach
Rohan approaches every student as more than a learner in a subject area. He takes time to understand where their anxieties, drives, and motivations come from, then uses that insight to guide, reassure, and challenge them in the right balance. Outside of tutoring, his practice of meditation and time in nature inform his patient, grounded teaching style.
Areas of Expertise
- Standardized Testing: SAT, ACT, GRE (Quantitative)
- Subjects: Mathematics (Calculus, Linear Algebra, Discrete and Combinatorial Math, Algebra, Precalculus), Physics (Mechanics, E&M, Thermodynamics, Waves, Quantum Mechanics), Statistics and Probability, and Computer Science (from introductory programming to advanced topics like distributed computing, data structures, and algorithms).
- He also mentors students exploring machine learning and AI, bridging traditional problem-solving with modern computational thinking.
Academic Achievements
Rohan earned his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, specializing in Dynamic Control and Optimization, and supplemented his studies with coursework in game theory, convex optimization, and quantum optics. He completed his B.S. in Physics (Honors) at the University of Texas at Austin, where he wrote a thesis on chaotic instabilities in nuclear fusion reactions.
Before that, at R.L. Paschal High School, Rohan focused on math and physics, served as president of the Ping Pong Club, and competed in UIL contests for computer science and mathematics. He also wrote a physics paper for the Siemens Research Competition that helped him earn admission to Caltech, a path he ultimately chose to forgo in favor of new directions.
Your pathway to success with Martin involves
Deep Conceptual Understanding
Learning the “why” behind the equations, not just the “how.”
Creative Problem Solving
Tackling new, original problems to strengthen critical thinking.
Confidence Through Mastery
Building the kind of understanding that makes exams feel intuitive, even enjoyable.
Current Projects
Rohan explores the intersections of math, philosophy, and computer science through his writing and creative work. He shares reflections on learning, technology, and the mind on his Substack and personal website.
