Wes Carroll Referrer Hub
Helping students grow
takes a team.
This page is for referrers — counselors, therapists, and education specialists — who want to understand how we work, how to start referring, and how we thank you for helping students find us.
You’ll also find info on who we serve best and resources you can share with your clients.
Why refer to us
Folks often send students to us with the intention of raising their scores. And that’s what happens when students work with us – but our approach is different. Instead of chasing numbers and drilling problems endlessly, we help students gain awareness of their habits and cognition.
In the end, our work helps students become engaged, genuine thinkers; higher scores come as a consequence of the long-term skills they’ll build with us.
We collaborate closely with families and the other professionals supporting each student. You can expect us to respect your role and maintain clear boundaries with your clients.
When your students need to develop into engaged and genuine thinkers
This takes a whole team. To us, that means working closely with a student’s family and their other education specialists. We often work with college counselors, therapists, and other education consultants to help students get where they need to go.
When you need to put together a team for your client
We understand that each part of a student’s support system has their own responsibilities, and we respect the boundaries that education specialists set with their referral networks.
When something's missing
Education specialists come to us when they notice their clients need something they’re not getting – whether it’s shifting gears to that next level of SAT scores, diving deep into an academic passion, or getting executive function habits under control, we’re here to help you achieve the outcomes you want for your clients.
Thank you again for the ’emergency help’ for Helena in May! She just got back her AP results & received a score of 5.
I’d call that the most efficient intervention I have seen!
I cannot say enough great things about Wes Carroll. … Thanks to Wes’ wonderful teaching skills, my son did exceedingly well on his tests and is an incoming freshman this fall at his first college choice.
How to refer to us
When you have a family to refer, send them to https://wescarroll.com/start to schedule the first parental conference with us – and tell them to mention your name.
To join our referral network for support, additional resources, and student updates, please:
-
- Email [email protected] to introduce yourself and the kinds of students you typically support.
- Let us know how you’d like to be thanked:
- Revenue share: Earn a percentage for each successful enrollment
- Personalized gifts or charitable donations: Pick something you’ll actually enjoy through Loop & Tie or choose a charity to donate to instead
- (Optional) Schedule a short intro chat so we can get to know you and the clients you serve.
Again, please remind families to mention your name in any other initial communication so we can properly associate the referral and thank you.
Ideal clients for Wes Carroll Tutoring & Coaching
At WCTC, we work with high-potential students. Some high-potential students may not fit the technical definition of “gifted” but are still highly capable. This term can apply to many different kinds of students:
-
- Students who are not necessarily “gifted” in the traditional sense, often 2e. These students are very bright but often don’t test as “gifted” due to factors like ADHD or anxiety.
- Students who can quickly grasp concepts but might not feel supported in their classrooms – they’re bored, they don’t click with their teachers, etc. Our approach emphasizes the importance of understanding each student’s individual needs, strengths, and challenges, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all tutoring approach.
- Students who need something more than just content delivery. Their parents might be building a team to support them, and don’t want a “normal” tutor. We can serve as coaches who help students develop better learning strategies and understand their own thought processes, rather than simply tutors who deliver content.
- Students not formally identified or labeled, but who feel like they are not living up to their potential
Cross-referrals
Most students find us via their college counselors, and as a result, few of our clients are in need of a private counselor. However, we do keep track of when students should receive a counselor assignment, and we always offer to connect them with a counselor within our network (you!) based on their goals.
Please meet with us (or schedule another time by emailing [email protected]) so that you can inform us of what kinds of students you prefer to work with, at what point in their college journey, and other stuff prospective clients of yours need to know.
Resources
If you have a client who needs extra guidance, we have plenty of resources to help them get up to speed. Our blog is home to many articles that parents will find helpful, including:

- Standing out as a consequence: The best college portfolios essentially build themselves…
- Why bright kids can lose their spark: “Too easy” early on leads to challenges down the road. How can we foster a growth mindset for our students?
- Executive functions in high-potential students: High-potential young people will struggle as adults if they don’t have some basic tools in handy.
- The AMC vs the usual tests and grades: How the AMC spotlights exceptional students in ways the SAT and ACT simply can’t…
